Winchester model of 1917 in 30-06, SN 491852, manufactured in 1918.  The U.S. Model of 1917 rifle, also known as the “American Enfield,” was a bolt-action service rifle widely used by American forces during World War I. Originally based on the British Pattern 1914 design, it was adapted to chamber the standard U.S. .30-06 Springfield cartridge. Because American industry could produce it quickly and in large quantities, the M1917 became the most commonly issued U.S. rifle of the war. It featured robust construction, excellent accuracy, and a distinctive rear-aperture sight mounted on the receiver bridge. Although the M1903 Springfield remained iconic, the M1917 played the primary role in arming the American Expeditionary Forces in Europe.

This particular rifle is in very good condition, with an apparent arsenal rebuild stock with an oil finish.  The metal retains 95% of finish, and the Johnson Automatics barrel has an excellent bore.  Make this classic the newest addition to your collection.
